Race to the Finish 2018 - Mid-year Trade Ally Appreciation

Come join Consumers Energy and trade allies for a mid-year appreciation event at Michigan International Speedway for race weekend!

Friday: Come watch your favorite NASCAR stars as they test out their cars during practice laps in preparation for the big race on Sunday.


Sunday: Come watch the big race starting at 2PM. Cheer on your favorite NASCAR driver and watch to see who battles it out to make the trip to victory lane in the FireKeepers Casino 400.

Steam System Energy Efficiency Training

Consumers Energy is offering a new training course on Steam System Energy Efficiency. This course is designed for Trade Allies and contractors who install and advise Michigan businesses on energy efficiency upgrades. This presentation will provide an in-depth description of how to implement improvements to boiler control systems, boiler sequencing and idling strategies, burners, blowdown heat recovery, conventional economizers, condensing economizers, and direct contact economizers. Examples of the latest available hardware will be reviewed, along with technical guidelines of the rebate application. Consumers Energy will be providing a description of all steam system efficiency incentives and how to apply these incentives to your steam projects. The course material has been prepared by Dean Boiler, Inc. who has been designing and installing commercial steam energy systems for over 60 years in Michigan.

  • Why and how to use a water specialist
  • Different objectives of bottom blowdown versus top blowdown (skimmers)
  • Discussion of combustion analyzer tests
  • How energy can be saved going from a jackshaft linkage to a parallel positioning control with oxygen trim
  • Exhaust gas recovery systems
  • Metering for energy efficiency
  • Overall steam system efficiency

Continental breakfast will be served starting at 8:30 registration and lunch will be provided in the afternoon. The cost of this event has been waived so that all may attend. Space is limited to the first 30 registrants, so please register early!

  • Guides you through the whole process of filling out and submitting an actual project rebate application
  • Introduces all the Consumers Energy resources available for your business to generate more projects

  • New trade allies to our program
  • Contractors seeking more information about elevating to trade ally status
  • Any current trade allies or contractors with new staff members who have not previously taken the training

What Are the Details?

  • Check-in at 8:45 a.m.
  • Session goes from 9 am to 11:30 am
  • Complimentary breakfast will be served.
  • Free photo headshot session will be available to all registered attendees. As an appreciation bonus, a photographer will be present to take complimentary pictures that will be given to you for your use on your company’s website and social media.
  • You are encouraged to bring a laptop in order to practice filling out an actual application
